Cracking the Tradition: Dalton School Second Graders Learn about Greek Orthodox Easter from Classmate
In Ms. Nako's second-grade house, students were in for a treat as one of their classmates shared her family traditions of Greek Orthodox Easter. The student spoke about the significance of the holiday and how it is celebrated in Greek culture. The class learned about the preparations leading up to Easter Sunday, including the painting of eggs in vibrant colors.
As part of the lesson, the class also learned about a popular Greek Easter game where two boiled eggs are cracked together. The aim of the game is to crack the other player's egg without breaking your own. The students were excited to try the game themselves. It was a fun and educational experience that introduced a new cultural tradition and engage in a new game that they had never played before.
