French 3A Class Goes to The MET to See the Manet/Degas Exhibit
In their first Assignment, students in Mr. San Juan’s French 3A class learn about portraits and self-portraits, culminating in a visit to The MET to view the “Manet/Degas” exhibit. Before going to the museum, students had a chance to work with Dr. Margaret Samu, a MET lecturer specializing in 18th and 19th-century art.
Conducted entirely in French, Dr. Samu helped students understand more about Manet and Degas, their relationship, and their work. In class, students analyzed and discussed several paintings from both artists in preparation for their museum visit. After touring the exhibit, French 3A students dined on savory crêpes at Bonjour Café. Thank you to Michelle Marcus for coordinating this event and to Madame Mhinat for helping to chaperone this lovely group of French students.
