Celebrating Literary Excellence: Four Students Shine in National Writing Competition

We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of four 6th Grade students who received national recognition for their creative and expository writing. These budding wordsmiths have showcased their creativity, originality, and ability to articulate thoughts with depth and clarity.
Meher Jetley’s poem, “ A List of Things That Will Be Forever Lost Because of the Pandemic,” captivated the judges. Her ability to weave a tapestry of emotions through her words left an indelible mark, earning her accolades on the Scholastic platform.

Claire-Min Phelan made a notable impact as she examined the Latin root “fort.” Her winning submission to the Root Power Contest highlighted her linguistic understanding, as well as her artistic talents.

Evelyn Peng’s winning podcast combined her literary prowess with her technical savvy. Under the guidance of our magnificent New Lab mentors, Evelyn mastered the skill of creating a podcast and wowed the judges with her discussion of the magical events in the La Hechiceria marketplace featured in the Rogue Enchantments Contest.

Evelyn Shengxi Yang was selected for her outstanding expository writing in Scope’s Finding Hope Contest. Her expository essay exemplifies the power of clear and persuasive writing. She received praise from Kristin Lewis, Editorial Director of Scope Magazine for her use of text evidence.

The success of these four students serves as an inspiration to their peers. It highlights the importance of perseverance, dedication, and a love for the written word. Congratulations!
