Music Faculty Member Publishes Chapter in Music Theory Book
Dr. Bill Solomon, co-chair of MS/HS Music Department, has been published in a major new book on queer music theory. His chapter “Queering Musical Chrononormativity: Percussion Works of the West Coast Group” is included in the book Queer Ear: Remaking Music Theory, edited by Gavin S. K. Lee and published by Oxford University Press. The chapter is an extension of his doctoral thesis on the history of the percussion ensemble in California during the early twentieth century and explores issues of identity, race, temporality, and rhythm.
