Middle School Debate Kicks Off Season by Hosting City-Wide Scrimmage
Last weekend, Dalton welcomed Middle School students from around the city to participate in the opening event of the New York Debate League.
The day began with a demonstration by expert High School debaters (including Emmalyn Zuzunaga '26), followed by a series of workshops and scrimmage debates on the topic of Resolved: Credit cards do more harm than good. Over 150 students from schools, including Hackley, Grace Church, and Ethical Culture Fieldston, attended the event. This novice event was an opportunity for all of the students to experience debate in a friendly, less competitive atmosphere and get to know students from other schools. Our debate students had a blast learning about basic economics in a public-speaking format and are now preparing for the next competition on November 9 at Nightingale.
