Over the last month, Dalton’s Model Congress team attended and had great successes at Princeton Model Congress and Yale Model Congress, led by heads Aminata Diallo ‘25, Alex Kim ‘25, and Gavin Aurelus ‘25.
At Princeton Model Congress, the team was awarded the title of Best Delegation, receiving the most Best Delegate awards of any school in attendance. 24 team members received awards, with 10 Best Delegate awards! Students debated in committees with topics ranging from Armed Services to Small Businesses and Entrepreneurship to the Select Committee on Intelligence. The team even encountered Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo at lunch! With eleven new freshman delegates joining the team, there was an elevated sense of spirit and passion all around. A special congratulations to the amazing novices!
At Yale Model Congress two weeks later, team members made a quick turnaround for another impressive long weekend of Model Congress debate. Students were able to participate in committee sessions on the Yale campus, and the passion for debate resounded through New Haven’s classrooms and lecture halls. 16 students received accolades for their impressive performances throughout small committee debate and full congressional sessions.
The team’s next adventure will be across the country in January at Harvard Model Congress San Francisco!
