Dalton Model Congress Hosts Conference Featuring Keynote Speaker Congressman Jerry Nadler
Last weekend, Dalton Model Congress hosted its annual spring conference, welcoming over 130 students from 12 delegations for a day of riveting and meaningful debate.
Model Congress heads Alex Kim '25, Gavin Aurelus '25, and Aminata Diallo '25 led the team to a successful final conference of the year.
The day started with an engaging keynote presentation from Congressman Jerry Nadler, who represents New York's twelfth district (which encompasses Dalton)! Mr. Nadler enlightened delegates on his career experience, from being a high schooler in New York City to moving up to his impactful position. He shared advice and answered questions for the conference's attendees, and we were honored to welcome him to DMC.
The Model Congress team's upperclassmen chaired a total of 9 different committees, with two especially exciting special committees: British House of Commons and U.S. Supreme Court. Delegates made it through productive debates on bill topics ranging from voting rights to mental health curricula to foreign aid. While it was bittersweet to see the team's seniors complete their final conference, Dalton Model Congress will continue to thrive in the coming year, and we can't wait to host another successful conference in the fall.
