DSRP Students Present at Urban Barcode Symposium

Students in DSRP (Dalton Science Research Program) 1 presented scientific posters of their year-long research project at the Urban Barcode Symposium at The Theater at City Tech.
This year, two teams participated in UBP. Jenny Wang ‘27 and Saira Shah ‘27’s poster “Does Urbanization Affect Bacterial Life Present in Soil?” looked at bacterial communities across two locations and found that bacterial biodiversity and population sizes, as well as soil pH, differed between urban and suburban soils. Isabella Fogelman ‘27 and Iris Mou ‘27’s poster “Wetland Indicator Plants and Water Quality in The Lake and Azalea Pond Suggest Difference in Wetland Status” examined the plant life at these two bodies of water and found that The Lake was likely a wetland while Azalea Pond likely wasn’t based on their plant makeups.
