Council member Powers represents New York City’s 4th District, covering Manhattan’s East Side and Midtown. He currently serves as the Chair of the Rules, Privileges, and Elections Committee. Previously, he was the Chair of the Criminal Justice Committee and also served as the Majority Leader. During his time in the Council, Council member Powers has been a champion on crucial issues, such as housing, public transit, environmental protections, small businesses, and various quality of life improvements. He has been a member of the Council since 2018.
