Middle School Debate Takes Top Spot at Competition
Last weekend, the Middle School Debate team travelled to The Packer Collegiate Institute to compete in a citywide ESU NY Debate League tournament.
The competition included three traditional rounds of debate, and a fourth impromptu round where students were given 30 minutes with no access to research (including no computers or devices) to prepare arguments for and against the use of artificial intelligence. By the end of the day, one Dalton team (Meher Jetley '30, Reha Agarwal '30, and Keila Vaitheeswaran '30) went undefeated and took first place, securing a spot at the Championship Tournament in April. Dalton Debate members also received high individual scores, earning 2nd (Teddy Glazek '30), 4th (Jae Jinn '30), and 5th (Sophie Yang '30) place overall.
Congratulations to all of the members of the team on an amazing performance, and best of luck at the Championship!
