New Episode of "José Makes a Lab Podcast": Model Congress

The fourth episode of this year's José Makes a Lab podcast features Model Congress co-heads and junior head Lauren Nam '26, Sophie Saxl '26, Simon Smith '26, and Henry Treen '27.
Model Congress offers High School students the opportunity to step into the role of a legislator. They gain a nuanced understanding of how democratic institutions function by researching real-world issues, drafting original legislation, debating policy proposals, negotiating within committees, all while refining their public speaking skills.

Our students attend four major conferences each year in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Boston, and New Haven. In addition, Dalton hosts two conferences annually, welcoming up to 300 delegates across 15 schools. Our students lead thoughtfully, confidently, and with integrity both at school and nationally.

In this episode, Sophie, Simon, Lauren, and Henry share how the program has fueled their curiosity about the world and how they intentionally work to build a supportive, collaborative community within the club. They reflect on some of the most meaningful bills they've written and how they plan to carry the skills they've developed far beyond Model Congress.

Their insights are candid, refreshing, and inspiring. Tune in to hear from these remarkable students!
