Health 7 Explores Sugar in Soda by Making Their Own
Last week, students in Health 7 headed to the Teaching Kitchen for their unit on nutrition.
The students worked with Chef Jaz to understand how to empower themselves and make healthy eating choices by cooking their own recipes using whole foods, along with learning safe knife skills!
In one lesson, students made their own cola using fruits and spices. The class was asked to order a set of foods and drinks based on how much added sugar they thought each contained. Students learned that sugary drinks often contain twice as much added sugar as foods like cookies and candy, and discussed how to make healthier choices when it comes to sugar.
