“…funny, but bloody.”
“…awesome and hilarious.”
“…really funny, disgusting, and a little scary and creepy.”
“…funny, scary, and gross all at the same time.”
Those are a few of the enthusiastic responses Edinger House students have had to Adam Gidwitz’s A Tale Dark and Grimm, a fantastic new book Ms. Edinger began reading aloud in September. Yesterday we had the awesome experience of Adam Gidwitz himself reading the last chapter. Here’s a brief video with some of the highlights of Adam’s reading and interactions with the class.

Ms. Feldman and Ms. Edinger first read Mr Gidwitz's book in galley in July. After reading it they wrote about it their blogs:
A few weeks later they heard him speak at a publisher event and decided to bring him to Dalton. Ms. Feldman attained the galleys for the Faculty Book club and brought Mr. Gidwitz and his editor, Julie Strauss-Gabel, to join them last Friday, November 5. Ms. Edinger's post on that day is here: http://medinger.wordpress.com/2010/11/06/three-amazing-writers/
Ms. Feldman invited Mr. Gidwitz back on Monday to speak to the HS Sci-Fi club and Ms. Edinger invited him to speak to her class, thus the video and blog post:
Mr. Gidwitz will be coming back in January to work with all the 4th grade classes as they write Cindy stories as part of Edinger House's Cinderella Study.
