First Dalton Student Leadership Conference is Success

Dalton successfully introduced the first annual Student Leadership Conference on Friday, November 12th with a roundtable discussion led by distinguished panelists, Melissa Harris Perry (Associate Professor of Politics and African American Studies at Princeton University), Bennett Singer (Award-winning editor and documentary film maker), and Kenji Yoshino (Chief Justice Earl Warren Professor of Constitutional Law at NYU School of Law).
High school students, K-12 faculty, administration, and parents participated in a lively and powerful roundtable Conversation on Experience and Emergent Identity, which highlighted the connections between the evolving self and leadership capacity building. This conference was a pilot event, from which high school students will create a template for a formal annual conference at Dalton which will be open to high school student peers and faculty from independent schools in the New York City area, scheduled for the fall of 2011.
