Model Congress Wins Numerous Awards at Yale

The High School's Model Congress team returned victorious from the 2010 Yale Model Congress competition, winning the Best Large Delegation Award in addition to seven Best Delegate and nine Honorable Mention individual awards.

Thirty students spent four days acting as US Senators and House Representatives, proposing and debating bills ranging from educational policy to environmental standards, as well as reacting to an imminent war with Mexico over a drug cartel crisis. Two students were selected for special roles as Supreme Court Justice and Secretary of State in the Presidential Cabinet.

Despite the loss of 11 graduates from last year’s team, the Dalton students continued their four-year winning streak. The upper classmen displayed superb training and preparation while also fulfilling their responsibilities as mentors and role-models for the novice attendees. Several of the Yale Model Congress organizers complimented the 13 Dalton freshman on their strong presence at their first congress and judged them to become fierce competitors at future events.

Congratulation to heads Cara Borenstein, Sasha Dudding and John Furman as well as the rest of the Dalton Model Congress team: Soleil Ball Van Zee, Gabby Borenstein, Jenna Borenstein, Zoe Borenstein, Zach Broner, Casey Brooks, Malina Buturovic, Lucas Carmel, Matt Cohen, Samantha Cohen, Darshan Desai, Matt Durkin, Nick Dyja, Sophia Edelstein, Grace Farley, LiangLiang Feng, Taylor Hemenway, Jared Mandelbaum, Gaby Meyer, Daniella Midulla, Sarah Revesz, Anna Rich, Isaac Shapiro, Vira Tarnavska, Brian Weidy, Molly Williams, and Tyler Wojak.
