For the second year in a row, a Dalton middle school team won the overall Champions Award at the NYC FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Robotics Championship at the Jacob Javits Center. Sunday evening brought news that the Champion Award-winning FLL team would be given the honor of participating in the FIRST World Championship held in St. Louis on April 27-30th.
FIRST, a fast-growing international robotics organization, welcomes over two hundred teams from around the city to participate in its festive NYC Mega Celebration. Teams demonstrate their innovative robotic solutions through presentations and competitive play, each robot an immense accomplishment and product of endless hours of design and testing.
Dalton's three middle school FLL teams took home additional awards on Sunday for 1st place in both Robot Performance and Technical Design, while the rookie high school FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team finished its inaugural competition in the dramatic elimination rounds on Saturday.
Congratulations to all the students who participated and all the coaches and parent mentors who supported them in the process.
