Art Abounds in April

Jim Zulakis
Art is flourishing at Dalton, along with late-April/early-May flowers, as is evidenced by the rolling art exhibits seen lately throughout the school.
Dalton's founder, Helen Parkhurst, valued the arts and placed them centrally in her vision of a successful Dalton Plan which represents the core philosophy of the school today. She felt that the arts held and gave meaning to all the academic areas and that they should be threaded throughout the curriculum. The art department today at Dalton offers meaningful connections and it helps students to become skilled and expressive with a very wide variety of offerings.

These mosaics, watercolor paintings and prints are but a small sampling of the vast list of art courses available to Dalton students. Most were on exhibit in April. The faculty are planning many year-end exhibits such as these, which will be on display through to the end of the school year. Community members are welcome to stop in and marvel at the creative and skillful works which our students produce.
