Recognized Mexican Artisan Shares Black Clay Works at Dalton

In November, Dalton students of Spanish and Art received a visit from Carlomagno Pedro Martínez, Director of the Museo Estatal de Arte Popular de Oaxaca (State Museum of Popular Art of Oaxaca) and a recognized artisan in barro negro from Oaxaca, Mexico.
Mr. Pedro Martinez visited classrooms to demonstrate his work in black clay as he talked to students about the history and culture of Mexico and its folk art. Mr. Pedro Martinez was invited to Dalton by the World Language Department and his visit was facilitated through the Organization Friends of Oaxacan Folk Art (http://www.fofa.us/).
