Middle and High School Math Students and Faculty Celebrate Pi Day

March 14, 2013 ~ Dalton's Pi Day celebration was baked into a sweet pastry of math activities, music, eating and t-Shirts as the math department celebrated allegiance to Pi, the number starting with 3.14 and extending into infinity. The festivities began with cross sections of the Middle and High School pie-titled math teams, which collaborated on a fun math relay competition. Teams were composed of five students ranging from 6-12 grades. There was a grade appropriate problem for each student to solve. If a student needed help, they could get a point deduction and ask an older students on their team to help. The problems ranged from easiest to hardest/youngest to oldest.
After the survey, the groups then enjoyed a singalong, with members of the the math department, whose instructive and inventive lyrics to the song parodies, "American Pi" and "Pi Day" were both funny and creative.

The sum of several scrumptious pies were evenly divided, distributed and devoured.
