A group of 5th grade archaeologists, budding experts in bronze age artifacts and history, and members of Professor Martha Edelson's 5th grade House, held a press conference to share their discovery regarding a new and exciting find. During their study of the Bronze Age, Edelson House students expanded their understanding of life in ancient Egypt through experiences such as watching a bronze casting lesson and building and painting artifacts using ancient techniques. The culmination of the study was a creation of a tomb for the fictional VIII dynasty vizier Neferweben.
Examining the tomb paintings, artifacts, and tomb design of that era with the help of Michelle Marcus, the students turned their classroom into a virtual “newly-discovered” tomb. This simulation culminated with a press conference for the tomb opening with the parents acting as members of the press and in a production of the exhibition catalogue.
