A Day of Apples in House 32

Wearing newly made chef hats, House 32 began the day by making “Awesome Applesauce”, being sure to save the apple cores for later. They removed the seeds from the remaining apple cores and used their mathematical knowledge and cooperative skills to work together in groups gluing five seeds onto apple cutouts
After lunch, the students estimated how many seeds were in all of the apples used to make the applesauce. Later, they would use those apple cutouts to skip count by five to determine how many seeds there actually were in all of the apples. Last but not least, House 32 used descriptive adjectives to compare and contrast five different kinds of apples (Red Delicious, Fuji, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith and Gala), and then graphed the results on a giant chart!
