Arts & Artists at Dalton

Welcome to our virtual "Open House" for the visual and performing arts at Dalton!  The arts are a critical component of a Dalton education, and there are so many opportunities for budding young artists to dive deep into their passions in the areas of dance, music, theater, or visual arts.  Please explore the videos below to see for yourself what the arts look like at Dalton (there are multiple videos in each section -- use the arrows on the videos to scroll through and watch what interests you!).  

Dance

The Dance Department at Dalton offers courses in the following areas:
  • Contemporary Dance and Improv: modern technique and improvisation
  • Dance Fusion: West African, Modern, Ballet, Musical Theater & Social Dance
  • Exploring Dance Forms
  • Intermediate Dance Technique: in-depth study of technique
  • Advanced Dance Technique
  • Hip Hop & African
  • Zen Dance: yoga, stretching, meditation, and relaxation techniques
  • Dance Tech: intro to a variety of dance skills and styles
  • Body Conditioning
  • Dance Theater Workshop: performance and choreography

We have one mainstage concert every spring featuring original student choreography that emerges from the DTW class.  All are welcome to audition. Music

The Music Department at Dalton offers courses in the following areas:

  • Jazz Ensembles (Clave, Crescent and Jazz Collective)

  • Music Technology

  • Music Capstone (seniors only)
Ensembles perform at least twice yearly.  Additional program features include guest artists, Master classes, composer commissions, and independent studies.   See below for some representative work of our Music Department! Theater

The Theater Department at Dalton offers courses in the following areas:

  • Moving Image Workshop
We produce two mainstage shows per year and an evening of one-acts directed by seniors who take the full series of performance classes.
