  • Learning Through Service & Action

Our K-12 Community Engagement and Service Learning program centers on civic leadership and community-based service learning to address the needs of our local neighborhoods. Throughout their Dalton experience, students participate in a series of projects that combine meaningful action with continual learning before and throughout the service experience.

  • First Program

Our youngest learners begin to understand that their actions can strengthen and impact our community. House Advisors integrate meaningful service through curricular instruction and reflection. Students develop empathy and a sense of shared responsibility as they seek to address the complex challenges of the world today.
  • Middle School

Middle School students continue their service learning journey with a stronger emphasis on cultivating student voice and focusing on neighborhood partnerships and issues. The Office of Global and Community Engagement works with Middle School faculty to develop grade-wide and House programming, leveraging relationships with Dalton and outside community organizations. This work instills in our students a sense of connection and responsibility to our local communities.
  • High School

In High School, students are encouraged to foster partnerships within and outside of Dalton and participate in a cause or issue that is important to them. By graduation, students will have the skills and dispositions to work collaboratively alongside diverse community stakeholders toward sustainable change.
