The Dalton Tigers MS Softball Team (1-0) started their 2008 season on a great note, racking up a win against league opponent UNIS 10-4. The game had great defensive highlights from Emily Schein, Emily Smul, Tessa Shapiro, Caroline Cherston, Selena Gonzalez, Maggie Ehrlich and great catching behind the plate by Sofia Ranalli. To go along with great defense came great pitching from Julia Evanusa (5 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 6 BB, 5 K's) and Caroline Cherston (1 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 2 K's). Then there were the offensive highlights led by Emily Smul (3 H, 2 2B, 1 3B, 3 RBI, 2 R), Emily Schein (3 H, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 3 R), Tessa Shapiro (2 H, 1 RBI), along with singles from Selena Gonzalez, Caroline Cherston, Maggie Ehrlich, Isabelle Choi, Nia Heslop, Jenny Swift, Alexandra Chilton and Alex Mayer. Great job all in all, we had a total of 19 hits and 4 walks. I think thats great and show how well we are swinging the bat. UNIS fielded the ball pretty well, but we just hit the ball very hard and through the infield. Next game is on Apr 17 against Riverdale at Van Cortland Park.
