Dalton Tigers MS Softball (3-0) had their third game at Morningside Heights Park
Dalton Tigers MS Softball (3-0) had their third game at Morningside Heights Park. Dalton had a rough start to the game, must have been due to the GREAT weather we had. Dalton gave up 2 runs in the 1st inning, but then scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st. Then gave up 2 runs in the 2nd inning and only came back to score 1 run in the bottom of the 2nd. Then both teams traded 2 runs in the 3rd inning. In the 4th Dalton held St Hilda's to only 1 run and scored 2 runs in the bottom of the frame to tie the score through 4 innings. WE started the 5th inning knowing it would be the last due to time. St Hilda's scratched in a run but Dalton answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to win led by a walks by Maggie Erhlich and Katherine Odom and a hit by Madeleine Blake. Madeleine scored on a wild pitch to end the game. Dalton had one outstanding play, a groundball back to the pitcher (Evanusa) who picked it up and alertly threw to 3B (Schein) who applied the tag to cut down an advancing runner. That was the fielding play of the game. Dalton was led offensively by Caroline Cherston (2-3, 2 2B, 3RBI, R), Emily Smul (2-3 RBI, R) and Maddie Blake (2-2, 3RBI, R). Dalton's next game against Brearley on 4-24-08 at Riverbank Park.
