The m.s. tiger trackies had a wonderful day at the Gotham games competing against over 30 schools in the Metropolitan and AAIS divisions. The boys and girls qualified in 13 out of the 22 events which included the long jump, shotput, 80 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, 100, 200, 400, 800, mile, 4 x 100, and 4 x 400 relays. 14 of our Tiger Trackies secured 18 qualifying spots for the championship round at the Gotham Games! Leading the way for the boys included Liam Glass, qualifying in all 4 events including the long jump, 100, 200, and 4 x 100 relay along with Brian Zhao, Chistopher Pardee, and Jack Scapiro who jumped 3 spots from their original qualifying position to finish 5th overall!. The boys also had veteran Clay Grabaurd qualifying in the shotput for the second year in a row and taking the bronze medal! The girls also demonstrated experience with 2 time qualifiers, Tarra Rana in the 300 meter hurdles, Chloe Goldstein in the 400, and 800, Sunaina Danziger in the 100, and 200 taking silver in that event and anchoring the 4 x 100 to a bronze medal! Tyler Love was the lead-off to this relay team and ruled the day with a gold medal finish in the 400, and a new Gotham Games gold medal record in the 800 with a time of 2:33.96, previously held by our very own Jillian Williams! Akilah Smith and Angie Cui teamed up with Ashley LaLonde, who also qualified in the long jump, and Janelle Benjamin who also qualified in the 100 and 200 to move up a spot in the 4 x 100 relay and finish 7th overall! Grace Ralbovsky took the silver in shotput which rounds out this very talented group! A special thanks to Maya Blake for her continued support and perseverance despite being limited with an injury and the many other Tiger Trackies that although did not participate in the Gotham Games had personal bests, are more fit and enjoyed their experience on the track. A wonderful culmination to a terrific season and many more to follow!
