Last week, the Office of Equity & Belonging hosted "A Belonging Celebration” (ABC) event that captivated Middle School students. The event provided an opportunity for students to join together in community, work with teachers they may not yet know, and dive deeply into engaging content driven by student interest.
With nearly 30 different choices, students learned about a range of topics from cultural dance to constitutional law to the influence of media. The workshops also offered students a variety of ways to engage with the material from hands-on activities that included building and writing to off-campus trips in which students took a serene walk through Central Park and visited a powerful exhibit at the Guggenheim, just to name a few. Each workshop provided a platform for students to explore their interests while delving into important conversations about what it means to belong in a community. It was truly a day to celebrate Dalton’s diverse community.
