First Program Library Holds Election

For the past few weeks, FP students have been learning about the Democratic process and elections. The students read Grace for President by Kelly DiPucchio and illustrated by Leuyen Pham. The book described leadership qualities, how to campaign and a simplified version of the Electoral College.
All K-2 students nominated book characters for President based on their leadership qualities. The five top candidates were Piggie & Gerald, The Library Lion, Amelia Bedelia, Ling & Ting, The Paper Bag Princess. Students campaigned for their choice and designed posters including a: Vote 4 Me Because and a slogan. Some students made campaign buttons. On Election Day, students entered private voting booths and cast their ballot using an iPad. Each voter received an "I Voted Today!" sticker! Congratulations to all of our young voters. The winners of the Little Dalton Library Presidential Election are...PIGGIE & GERALD!!!
