The Dalton Girls Chess Team Wins the K-6 State Chess Championship
The First New York State Girls Team and Individual Championships was full of friendly female faces. Dalton girls showed they are a major chess powerhouse: our K-6 team dominated the competition, winning the state championship team trophy, while first grader Stephanie Weinberg and fifth grader Julia Miyasaka won individual titles as state champions. Winners of the championship tournaments gained free entries to two Continental Chess tournaments.
Beatriz Marinello and Adia Onyango were the brilliant and dedicated coaches for our team at this event. Congratulations to all involved in this, the first-ever New York State Girls Chess Championship.
