This month, the entire Kindergarten grade began Book-A-Day, a brand new project. Each Kindergarten house has received a box of library books which students are allowed to borrow from on a daily basis, placing them in their brand new First Program Library tote bags. Students keep track of their books by using a fun matching chart which pairs their book covers with their classroom photos.
At the beginning of each month, Houses rotate library boxes ensuring that there are new and exciting titles for all students to take home every day until the end of the year. Parents have already responded with enthusiastic feedback including, “We are two days into the new book program and it's quite the hit! My daughter brought home two books she has never seen before, and they were both enjoyed.” The First Program librarians hope this project will become a Kindergarten tradition.
