Dalton Tiger Report: 10/10-10/13

Boys Varsity Soccer picked up its second in-league victory of the season on Wednesday against Fieldston. The team hopes to build on this momentum in the last weeks of the fall athletic season. 
BOYS VARSITY SOCCER DEFEATS FIELDSTON 3-0

Coming off of two difficult losses against Riverdale and Hackley, Boys Varsity Soccer rose to the occasion against Fieldston on Wednesday, October 11. This was the first game co-captain Griffin Perry ‘18 returned to the lineup after suffering an injury during Dalton’s homecoming game against Trinity, and the team was happy to have his three years of varsity experience back on the defense. As midfielder Jonah Eick ‘19 put it, “Having Griffin back was monumental for the strength of the defense and the composure of the team as a whole.”

Arjun Prasad ‘18 was the first to score in the first half after a through ball from co-captain Alex Morishige ‘18 allowed Prasad to break the defense. Around ten minutes later, center back Addison Miller ‘19 scored off of his brother Marshall ‘20’s well placed corner kick into the middle of the box. The momentum from Miller’s goal carried the team to its third goal of the match, all still in the first half, by Morishige on a breakaway. In the second half, Fieldston scored one goal but stayed quiet for the rest of the match.

Dalton’s victory against Fieldston provided a much needed boost to the team’s morale. According to center back Aidan Shepardson ‘19, “we’ve been having trouble putting the ball in the back of the net, but after a convincing win at Fieldston, we’re excited for the rest of the season.” The team looks ahead to a rematch against Poly Prep on the school’s homecoming this Saturday.
