Dalton Students Compete in Future Problem Solvers State Bowl
Students in Grades 5-9 competed in the Future Problem Solvers State Bowl on Thursday, February 27. They brainstormed and developed action plans around the topic of “Living in Poverty”.
Future Problem Solvers, an international program provides competitions to teach students critical and creative thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. In the competition, students participate in a two hour-long written “bowl” in which they work in teams or independently to conduct research on a chosen topic, name potential challenges, identify the underlying problem, brainstorm solutions, develop criteria to judge their solutions, rank their solutions, and describe an action plan for their best solution.
