Dr. Shira Kohn Serves as Conference Co-Chair for the Association for Jewish Studies
High School History Teacher Dr. Shira Kohn recently served as the Co-Chair of the Association for Jewish Studies (AJS) Online Conference Task Force, where she was tasked with transitioning the organization’s 1,200+ person conference from an in-person event to an online format.
The AJS Conference is the largest annual gathering of Jewish Studies scholars in the world. Dr. Kohn helped the AJS’s professional society reimagine its 52nd annual conference into a five-day digital experience that included virtual booths, exhibitor sessions, digital swag bags, networking opportunities, and 190 online sessions designed to share ideas and explore the world of Jewish Studies scholarship. In addition to her Co-Chair responsibilities, Dr. Kohn also chaired a conference session on radical American Jewish college students in the 1930s and 1960s.
