Kindergarteners Reach The 100th Day of School!

While it may be hard to believe, Kindergarteners are celebrating their first 100 days of Dalton.
Leading up to this momentous milestone, Kindergarten House Advisors created a variety of activities and lessons to give students a fuller sense of what the number “one hundred” really means, including:
  • Solving math problems using a 100-grid.
  • Drawing a self-portrait showing what they think they’ll look like at 100 years old.
  • Illustrating and writing sentences about 100 things they would like to have and 100 things that would not want to have.
  • Figuring out different ways that 100 objects could be divided without leftovers.
Teachers also asked Kindergarteners to collect 100 small objects and place them in a box. Students gave clues to help each other guess their collections and then arranged the objects into groups.

On their 100th day of school, all Kindergarteners, those learning in-person as well as virtually, each received a commemorative pencil, pad, and eraser, decorated with a picture of a $100 bill. They also received a special pair of 100th Day glasses as you can see in the photos.

As a fun 100th Day math activity, House Advisors gave students mini-marshmallows and toothpicks. The children had to count out 50 marshmallows and 50 toothpicks and construct their very own marshmallow monster. After taking a picture of their monster, students celebrated their accomplishments by eating their delicious materials!
