Pancakes in Motion: Physics Class Studies Velocity and Acceleration

We all know that if we throw something in the air, it will come back down, but how can we mathematically describe this motion to determine the velocity and acceleration of the object?
Sarah Goodman and David Lindo’s HS physics classes visited the 14th Floor kitchen at 89th Street on Thursday, October 14, for a fun exercise to test velocity and acceleration.

Students took turns flipping pancakes with the expertise of Chef Jaz (Jazmin Johnson), analyzed the data to calculate the acceleration due to gravity, and enjoyed a delicious snack.
