HS Robotics Team Competes at Season-Opening Tournament

Last weekend, the High School Robotics teams returned to in-person tournament play as they opened their season with a competition at John Dewey High School.
Dalton teams Atomic Theory and Uncertainty Principle competed in the first event on Saturday, followed by squads Quantum Mechanics and Natural Selection, who participated in the second event on Sunday. Each team approached this season’s game challenges differently.

The teams excelled during the qualifying rounds, with Atomic Theory and Uncertainty Principle earning the 1st and 2nd place spots, respectively, on Saturday and Natural Selection earning 3rd place on Sunday. All four teams advanced to the playoffs, where Atomic Theory and Uncertainty Principle partnered together and won the competition, earning victories in the semifinals and finals of their tournament. Atomic Theory currently holds the top spot in New York City.

In addition to victories on the game field, all Dalton teams received awards in the judged categories of their respective tournaments: Atomic Theory won the Design Award for their lift system and custom chassis, Quantum Mechanics won the Motivate Award for their outreach initiatives in which they partnered with Dalton's Helping Hands and Community Based Engineering clubs, and Children's Aid, and Natural Selection won the Think Award, the second-highest award, for their Engineering Design Process and their in-depth reflections on it.
