9th Grade Biology Students’ Interactive Study on Proteins

"Can you uncook an egg? Why does cooked food look different from raw food?" In a recent Assignment, 9th grade Biology students explored how various factors could denature the form of proteins.
Students used egg white proteins to observe what factors denature proteins directly. Next, they participated in a simulation by stepping into the role of the enzyme! In the interactive simulation, the students took on the role of a fictional enzyme, "toothpickase."

To wrap up their exploration, the class investigated the activity of pectic enzymes, which are used to produce fruit juices.
