3rd Graders Create Lenape Village for Social Studies Project
Third graders in House 44 recently completed a two-month-long Social Studies research project about the Indigenous People of the Eastern Woodlands. For their final project, the students joined together and used their research on different aspects of Eastern Woodland culture to create a Lenape Village diorama.
This diorama project allowed students to work creatively with materials as they applied their research and knowledge to build an accurate recreation of a springtime Lenape village. The 3rd graders chose one of five categories to focus on (Farming, Housing, Hunting & Fishing, Ceremonies, and Lacrosse), but the entire class worked together to plan, execute, and present their shared village.
