4th Grade Spanish Takes Galápagos Islands Study to Art Studio

Fourth Grade Spanish students recently worked in the art studio to enhance their study of the Galápagos Islands and their fauna.
First, students used sumi ink to make drawings of the animals from the Galápagos Islands. Next, they stamped the names of the animals in Spanish using letterpress stamps and rub-on letters that MS Art Teacher Jodi Messina-Nozawa had salvaged from the 1960s!

Throughout the Spanish Assignment, the 4th graders learned about the animals and their characteristics. The students used the singular and plural third-person forms of high-frequency verbs and can now describe the animals in Spanish in great detail. In addition, the class is learning about human impact on the environment and actions we can take to help these animals.

Special thanks to Jodi and Spanish teachers Cherokee Lynn and Wyatt Crane for arranging this art/Spanish collaboration project!
