House 41's Magical Mosaic Cafe Makes a Difference for Children in Need
After weeks of hard work, research, and hands-on learning, first graders in Goodman House 41, opened “The Magical Mosaic Cafe” with proceeds going to a charity, Backpack Buddies.
The journey began in April when House 41 delved into the world of restaurants. They visited Pies ’n Thighs in Brooklyn, where they gained invaluable insights by touring the restaurant and interviewing the staff. Inspired by the mosaic art in New York City's subway stations and Gaudi's architectural marvels in Barcelona, the students conceived a unique mosaic theme for their own restaurant. They meticulously crafted a menu, applied for various job roles, and even prepared a live performance of "Magic to Do" from the show Pippin, which captivated their customers.
The experience proved transformative for House 41, teaching students the value of teamwork and equipping them with an array of culinary and operational skills. With immense joy and gratitude, they welcomed their parents, teachers, and Head of School José M. De Jesús, as customers, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
As a true testament to their dedication, the students raised a remarkable $318, which they wholeheartedly donated to Backpack Buddies. House 41's Magical Mosaic Cafe provided an unforgettable experience and made a meaningful difference in the lives of other children.
