Johannesburg to the UN Summit to Our Very Own Dalton Classroom – Hatim Eltayeb Visits Dalton
Last week, Hatim Eltayeb, CEO of the African Leadership Academy (ALA), traveled from Johannesburg, South Africa, to participate as one of the distinguished panelists at the United Nations summit. While in NYC, he generously carved out time to visit High School History Teacher Donald Okpalugo’s Senior elective class, "The Black Radical Tradition." Hatim discussed ALA's mission and specifically their approach to teaching students from across the continent about African history and Black studies in a pan-African setting. He also guest-taught Donald’s evening philosophy seminar, "Knowledge, Mind, & Existence."
Hatim oversees all elements of the African Leadership Academy as Chief Executive Officer, stewarding the mission to identify, develop, and connect Africa’s future leaders. He has represented ALA’s work at conferences across the African continent as well as in Singapore, Japan, the US, and at the European Parliament in Brussels.
