Dalton Student Journalists Attend the 83rd Annual CSPA Conference
Last weekend, thirteen High School students attended the 83rd Annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association Fall Conference at Columbia University for the first time. They were accompanied by Christine Leja, faculty advisor to The Daltonian, and Brendan Matz, faculty advisor to The Compass.
The CSPA’s mission is to train future journalists as leaders in the field. The Fall Conference offered 60 presentations over 5 time slots. Students chose to attend workshops on a variety of topics, including career paths in media, editing techniques, the art of the interview, Fake News, visual storytelling, and national legislation initiatives to protect the rights of student journalists.
