On Saturday, February 1, twelve Middle Schoolers competed in the Manhattan Chapter MATHCOUNTS contest.
37 schools participated and students completed three rounds of math tests: Sprint Round, Target Round and Team Round. The Dalton team won 3rd place. Based on individual scores, four students placed in the top 16 overall: Sid Singh '29 (8th place), Sammy Sen '30 (9th place), Timmy Chan '29 (16th place). Additionally, after an exciting afternoon round of speed math, Sid Singh earned first place in the Countdown Round.
The Dalton team of four, along with an alternate, will head to the Mathcounts State Competition in Saratoga Springs in March. Good luck to Sid Singh, Timmy Chan, Penelope Koehl '29 , Sammy Sen, and Kevin Chen '30 in this upcoming competition, and congratulations to everyone who participated!
