Tumbling, Balancing and Lots of Fun at the 2nd Grade Gymastics Demonstration
The 2nd grade Gymnastics Demonstration, held in February, was a big success for students in the five second grade houses.
When the demo began, gymnasts conducted their usual warm ups which included stretching and strengthening exercises. Next the students showed their parents and friends the different tumbling skills they have acquired including forward and backward rolls, tripods, headstands and cartwheels. The children then performed on two of their favorite pieces of apparatus which included: mats, even parallel bars, uneven parallel bars and balance beam. Those who selected the mats or balance beam were able to design their own routines, if they wished. For the grand finale, each student performed a tumbling skill of his or her choice.
Congratulations to the second graders for a wonderful job! Based on the enthusiastic clicking of cameras, the audience was clearly impressed by their abilities. Kudos to Phys. Ed. Teachers Kathy Martin, Craig Stolzberg and Bobby Quinn for a job well done.
