It was a fantastic homecoming weekend on September 25-26. The festivities began at the Phys. Ed. Center with two exciting volleyball matches against Fieldston on Friday. The JV team fell in three games in a closely fought battle with the Eagles before the varsity swept Fieldston in two.
Dalton then inducted six individuals and two teams into the Hall of Fame. Inductees included the 2000 Football team that won the Fairchester League Championship and the 1999 state champion Volleyball team. Also enshrined were Jon Abbey '88, Lauren Bernhardt '98; Ryan Ewers `02; Eddie Kaplan `87; Dee Martin `02; and Sarah Wild `00. All the varsity teams then got ready for their contests with a very spirited pep rally.
Saturday at Randall's Island was a blue and white extravaganza. Along with exciting sporting events was the annual school-wide picnic and the First Program Family Fun day with included relay races, informal soccer games, face painting, and live music.
Hundreds of Daltonians were treated to some really great games. The boys JV soccer and girls JV soccer split with Fieldston. JV girls tennis topped the Eagles in a tight contest. Girls varsity soccer rallied from a 2-0 deficit only to fall just short in a 3-2 loss to Fieldston. Boys varsity soccer topped their counterparts 2-0, completely dominating the field of play. Varsity tennis fell in a tough match to Fieldston before football capped off the day with a 28-6 rout of Foreman in their season opener.
The day was a great show of Dalton spirit and many are looking forward to continuing the tradition of all 3 events in one day.
