Dalton Students Travel to Beijing in Service to The Dandelion School
As part of the DGI program, (Dalton Global Initiatives) 10 Dalton Mandarin students and their teachers travelled to the the Dandelion School in Beijing, China from March 11 - 23, 2012. The visiting Dalton students reinforced their Mandarin speaking skills while providing service through teaching English and introducing Lego robotics kits to their eager-to-learn, Chinese counterparts.
Dandelion students are children of migrant families who, according to Chinese law, may not access public education due to their migrant status. 80% of Dandelion's graduates go on to High School and many qualify for scholarships and go on to college. The school has grown in 6 years to over 600 Middle School students and relies exclusively on private funding.
