David Macaulay returned to complete a small corner piece of the mural in the entry landing of the High School Library on Dalton's 10th Floor. The drawing includes an archway to a small and distant city. Mr. Macaulay drew quickly and deliberately as students from Ms. Do's art classes observed and discussed his process and thoughts as he worked. His masterful confidence with the black permanent marker in hand was truly impressive. This completes the project which was part of the Year of the Sketchbook, 2009-10.
The video records his progress on the final drawing, from start to finish. We have also included a second link to the original video showing the initial stages of work on the mural. In addition to this legacy, Mr. Macaulay influenced many artists in the Dalton community, as was exemplified by the drawings included on the following blog: http://blogs.dalton.org/sketchbooks/.
