A Talented Group of MS Writers

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers identifies teenagers in grades 7-12 with exceptional artistic and literary talent and brings their remarkable work to a national audience through The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have an impressive legacy dating back to 1923 and a noteworthy roster of past winners including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford and Joyce Carol Oates.

The Awards are an important opportunity for students to be recognized for their creative talents. Each year, the Alliance partners with more than 100 visual and literary-arts focused organizations across the country to bring The Awards to local communities..

Here at Dalton, the seventh and eighth grade English classes have been working to incorporate more creative writing into the curriculum, and our students are certainly a talented bunch! Each year, we have at least a few of our Dalton students who receive these awards for their literary and/ or artistic talents, but this year was exceptional. We congratulate them for this wonderful accomplishment. Bravi!
