Dalton Dance Department Hosts Dancers from The Netherlands
The Dalton Dance Department hosted a group of six dancers from Maurick College (a Dalton School in Vught, Holland). They had an incredibly busy and rewarding week dancing with our dance students. Each evening was spent attending dance performances and workshops. They saw Sleep No More, Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, a special presentation by alum dancer, Adam Weinert, a private dress rehearsal of Doug Varone's new piece at BAM Fisher, and a myriad of dance classes taught by our faculty members, Christina Reeves, Joanna Brotman, Randi Sloan & our resident Hip Hop teacher, Matt Lopez. It was a great week.
Dalton Dancers to Take Class at Julliard
A group of Dalton dance students will meet with Hilary Easton, a choreographer, a dance composition teacher at Julliard, and a Dalton parent. The will meet at the beautiful Gibney Dance Center on six consecutive Friday afternoons to get a firsthand look at the creation of a new work of art, and learn about forms and practices that are relevant in today’s contemporary dance world. Students will take master classes, watch dance video, attend rehearsal & performance and share discussion with students from Trevor Day Dance, who will also be part of this exciting new pilot program.
There will be a piece in an upcoming edition of Dalton Days about this amazing visit.
