Savino Wins and is Named Wrestling Champion of Champions
The Dalton Wrestling Team capped off their historic season with a 6th place finish at the NYS Private School Wrestling Championships. Shahn Savino '14 won Dalton's first individual championship in 20 years with a triple overtime victory over his long time rival from Martin Luther.
Savino will become the first wrestler to represent Dalton at the National Prep Wrestling Tournament since 2001. In addition, thanks in part to his excellent sportsmanship and excellent skills, Shahn was voted Champion of Champions by his fellow wrestlers from around the state.
The team finished with six place winners overall and took home the award for Most Improved Team. This season, team highlights included a team championship at the Grover Cleveland Tournament, ten individual championships, four All-Ivy wrestlers and two All-City wrestlers.
